Relaunching ADHDaptive Website and Blog
Exciting news: Website and Blog Revamp
Here is some fantastic news: I am pleased to announce the ADHDaptive website relaunch! I the ADHDaptive website and blog to WordPress this week. This has taken a significant amount of time, and it has become hyperfocus, with me working on it from the minute I get up until I go to bed in the evening. As a result, I learned a lot about WordPress, web design, SEO, and integrations. While I am not 100% satisfied with the result (which is expected as I am a perfectionist), this is just the beginning.
Why did I do this?
GoDaddy offered built-in SEO tools that allowed me to quickly get listed on search engines without understanding SEO or what it entails. This was beneficial and has proven successful, as most clients found me simply by searching on Google.
I originally started my web site using GoDaddy back in April 2023, when I began ADHDaptive. GoDaddy was reinitializing for a newcomer because it allowed me to create something quickly and easily with a professional look. It also came with a blog, which I didn't think I would be using. However, I soon became aware of the limitations of the GoDaddy editor. Although it quickly enabled me to create a polished page, it left me somewhat restricted to the templates it offered. This didn't allow me to express my individuality, resulting in a templated look. Tasks such as adding an extra photo here and there or an extra heading weren't possible. I don't want an off-the-shelf website; I want something more quirky and representative of me.

Sharp learning curve
Despite having worked all my life in IT and loving learning new technology, this process has been a steep learning curve; I soon discovered that tools such as Elementor made the process much easier. This gave me much more flexibility over the look and feel of the site, and the ability to integrate add-ons allowed for much more refined control over the site's design and functionality. This includes connecting it with HubSpot, which I use as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to keep track of all my inquiries and marketing in one place. SEO add-ons also help with SEO, ensuring my good rankings will continue.
New and improved blog
This transition has also allowed me to relaunch my blog, something I enjoy. It serves as an excellent platform for me to express myself, share my views and news, and advocate for the cause of neurodiversity. I hope it is now more accessible and engaging.
The evils of social media
I have been using LinkedIn and Facebook as extensions of my blog. Still, I was constantly wasting my time duplicating information and battling their algorithms to connect with the people I wanted to reach. I have also quickly learned that these platforms can be quite toxic and not at all helpful for neurodivergent individuals, who can quickly become overly focused on likes, comments, and follows. It's too easy to lose one's direction and alter content to appease the algorithm instead of engaging people with what I am genuinely passionate about.
What next?
I am now going to concentrate on my website and blog, hoping to create a safe, go-to place for those passionate about neurodiversity, assisting them in discovering themselves and improving their lives and workplaces. I will still post on LinkedIn and Facebook; however, I will link back and share information from my website.
