ADHD and Autism (AuDHD): What It Feels Like, Doodled

01 January 2025

By Andrew Lambert

When people talk about ADHD or Autism, they usually talk about them like they’re separate. Either-or. Pick one.

But for a lot of us, it’s both.

That combo has a name—AuDHD—and it’s more common than most people realise.
Still wildly misunderstood though.

So I made a video to help explain it. No jargon. No long lectures. Just a hand-drawn explainer with ADHDappi walking through what it actually feels like to have ADHD and Autism tangled together.

🎥 Watch the video here:

What’s in the video?

It’s a doodle-based explainer with simple slides showing how:

  • ADHD and Autism can overlap
  • Sometimes, they totally clash
  • Emotional regulation goes haywire
  • Why masking gets even heavier
  • And how this combo creates deep, daily tension

Each slide is sketched by hand. Because honestly, the best way I could describe it was to draw it.

If you’re someone who’s always felt “too much” and “not enough” at the same time, this is for you.

Why it matters

Most people only get diagnosed with AuDHD later in life. Especially women. Especially if we’ve been masking.

And once we know, the learning starts. Not the textbook kind—
The “oh... this is why my brain feels like this” kind.

This video is part of that.
Not a solution. Just a mirror. One that might help you feel a little more seen.

I’ll be sharing more of these doodle explainers. Follow along on:

If you find it helpful, share it.
If you feel it deeply, come say hi.

Final thought

You don’t need to fit into one box.
And you don’t have to explain yourself to be valid.

But sometimes, a doodle does help.

Let’s keep making sense of this, together.
